John Commentary
ohn presents Jesus as the eternal Word made flesh, the Son sent from the Father, the giver of life, and the crucified and risen Lord in whom God’s glory is revealed. The Gospel gives sustained attention to signs, belief and unbelief, eternal life, the identity of Jesus, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the relationship between Jesus and the Father.
This full-length commentary follows John on his own literary and theological terms while also giving careful attention to historical setting, Old Testament and Jewish background, major interpretive questions, and significant points of comparison with the Synoptic Gospels.
